FAQs
Why do I have to use condensed milk to make the No Churn Ice Cream?
Condensed milk is typically cow’s milk with the water content evaporated off by nearly 60%. The thick and sugary milk becomes the sweetener. When it is mixed with the heavy cream, the sugar in the condensed milk will bond with the water of the cream. This bond will lower the freezing point and will create a smooth and creamy texture
Can I replace the condensed milk with a different milk alternative?
You can replace the condensed milk with Dulce de Leche for a one-to-one alternative. You can also use evaporated milk for an one-to-one replacement. Evaporated milk is not sweetened so you will have to add sugar or the sweetener of your choice to get the same flavor and texture
Do I need to use a mixer to make this recipe?
You don’t have to use a hand or stand mixer to make this recipe. However, using a hand whisker, it will take you up to thirty minutes until stiff peaks form. If you use a mixer, you will only need 5-7 minutes for the same results
Is the No Churn Vanilla Ice Cream gluten free?
Typically, the ingredients used heavy cream and condensed milk alike do not contain gluten. Therefore, the ice cream is gluten free. However, we advise you to check the packaged ingredients as there may well be hidden additives and starches that contain gluten. If not, the ice cream is also grain-free
Can I make vegan No Churn Vanilla Ice Cream?
You can make a vegan No Churn Vanilla ice cream by using vegan condensed milk and vegan cream. Vegans commonly use coconut milk based condensed milk and coconut vegan cream. Some popular brands are Thai Kitchen Coconut Cream (also gluten free), Kara Coconut Cream and Native Forest Organic Premium Coconut Cream. Make sure it is cream and not milk. Nature’s Charm is a vegan condensed coconut milk. You will need to test the recipe many times to figure out the replacement ratio.
How can I top off this No Churn Vanilla Ice Cream?
You can top off with pretty much anything you like: your favorite syrup, molasses, mini chocolate chips, Maraschino cherries, chopped nuts, cinnamon, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, or whipped cream. You can even use some potato chips for a perfect combo of sweet and salty!
